Job Summary:

The Senior Manager of Environmental Health and Safety will be responsible for overall site management of all company facilities to ensure that the facilities comply with all applicable regulations, requirements and policies, and that the facilities function at optimal levels to meet business and operational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement site-specific Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs and processes including emergency preparedness and fire protection, safety risk assessments and safe working procedures, MSDS and SDS, hazardous waste management, H&S training, ergonomics, contractor safety, security access control, and crisis management
  • Represent the business at Corporate EHS meetings and ensure all corporate expectation are reviewed with the leadership and implemented, as necessary
  • Responsible for identification and timely submission and maintenance of all applicable EHS and Facility permits (fire safety occupancy permits, and any environmental / operating permits required for the operation of the facility)
  • Direct and conduct safety training of all managers and employees to ensure a thorough knowledge and understanding of safety rules, regulations and guidelines
  • Carry out various awareness campaigns for promoting a culture of safety
  • Train employees and contractors/service companies in basic EHS awareness as well as on job-specific risks
  • Establish injury prevention initiatives focused on world-class health and safety performance; conduct compliance audits and reviews necessary to meet company and local compliance requirements to reduce risk
  • Lead efforts to identify, recommend, develop, and implement best practices for company safety programs and help ensure standardization company wide
  • Prepare and manage budget, work scopes, and coordination for all contracted facilities and maintenance activities; set-up, manage and regularly review service contracts to provide a cost-effective facilities program
  • Perform site Environmental Health and Safety inspections to develop recommendations for improvements
  • Perform facility planning, budgeting, and equipment replacement; implement processes to achieve continuous improvement for current and future operational requirements and utilities consumption/savings
  • Responsible for Facility Security Management, including physical building security (security cameras, access control, alarms systems), personnel security and adherence to corporate security processes and procedures
  • Insure compliance with corporate wide initiatives and required local, state and federal laws and regulations
  • Work with HR on Worker’s Compensation claims and other related issues
  • Represent the company with local, state and federal agencies
  • Responsible for corporate reporting and KPIs
  • Ensure the status and effectiveness of the EHS system is reviewed with site leadership at least annually

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • 7+ years of experience working in an EHS or Facilities role
  • 5+ years of experience working in a Management role
  • Basic knowledge of budgetary process
  • Ability to implement safety programs and achieve measurable goals
  • Ability to self-manage and organize priorities
  • Technical knowledge in varied disciplines related to the environment, health and safety compliance
  • Knowledge of Employment Law and regulations as it relates – OSHA, EPA, DTSC, AQMD, CUPA, DOT, RCRA and EEOC
  • Knowledge of ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 environments
  • Maintain the ISO14001 certification
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and policies for safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions as well as procedural manuals
  • Understanding of safety system analysis and risk management tools
  • Experience in managing workers compensation claims, claims analysis, and cost reduction

Benefits

The starting pay range for this position is $119,400 - $143,300 per year however, base pay offered may vary depending on the level of the position, skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location.
