You’ll be joining the team at an exciting time for ACHIEVEability. As we approach our 45th anniversary, we are looking to grow our budget to effectively meet the needs of our neighbors. The Grants Manager is an integral part of our strategy to achieve our FY 2026 and beyond financial goals. We have a $4 million budget entering FY 2026 (1.1 million foundation grants; 2 million government contracts; 1 million individual giving and special events). DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
ACHIEVEability is seeking a dynamic and energetic Development Director with an entrepreneurial spirit towards the cause of forging new, sustainable relationships to build our visibility, impact, and financial resources. The Director of Development is a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to advance ACHIEVEability’s mission to eliminate poverty and foster thriving communities in West Philadelphia. This leader will cultivate philanthropic partnerships, lead individual giving and institutional fundraising, and expand the organization’s visibility and revenue. They will manage development operations, supervise a growing team, and work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and program staff.
Responsibilities
The Development Director will oversee our fundraising program with a focus on individual giving, corporate relations and communications. They will be oversee these key areas:
● Fundraising Strategy & Execution
o Engage the Executive Director, board members, and key staff to create and maintain a long-term fundraising strategy.
o Develop and execute ACHIEVEability’s annual fundraising plan
o Conduct research, prospecting, and application to multiple donor sources
o Oversee research of funding sources and trends, with foresight, to help position ACHIEVEability ahead of major funding changes or trends.
● Donor Management
o Create and execute a strategy for a large, sustained base of annual individual donors
o Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating and maintaining deeper ties and relationships with donors.
o Manage donor data and CRM management (NeonOne)
o Analyze and prepare reports on donor information
● Institutional Fundraising
o Oversee foundation, corporate, and government grant strategies, working with grant writers and program staff to submit compelling proposals and reports.
o Expand and diversify the donor base with a focus on long-term sustainability.
● Events & Campaigns
o Lead execution of signature fundraising events, including Impact Day and stakeholder engagement campaigns.
o Oversee special events managed by the team in collaboration with event planner and volunteers.
o Design and manage capital or special campaigns as needed.
● Board & Leadership Engagement
o Partner with the Executive Director and Board to build a culture of philanthropy.
o Staff the Board Development Committee; support board members in their fundraising roles.
● Development Team
o Build a strong development team through identifying staffing needs and recruiting suitable candidates.
o Set performance goals, provide coaching, and foster a collaborative, accountable culture.
o Manage and train the Development team, which includes a Communications and Development Associate, and interns.
● Communications
○ Oversee social media and email communications for the organization.
○ Collaborate and coordinate with PR and marketing consultants.
Requirements
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree required; CFRE or advanced degree preferred.
● 5+ years of experience in fundraising and development and 3+ years in a nonprofit organization
● Familiarity with the Greater Philadelphia philanthropic community
● Commitment to racial and economic equity and the mission of ACHIEVEability.
● Demonstrated success managing donor pipelines and achieving fundraising goals.
● Strong relationship-building, communication, and leadership skills.

● Demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources)
● Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, verbal, and written communication skills
● Ability to work both independently and as a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority

Benefits
Salary Range: $90,000 - $115,000 commensurate with experience
